It's past this little girls bedtime....

I've been home not quite an hour and am supposed to be sleeping before I run out and meet Anne in town soon.

I just wanted to say I haven't forgotten this place, or my ideas, honestly. It's just been a hectic few months. I've graduated, y'see, and we've moved again. All good, but, all time consuming/exhausting.

I am totally looking forward to Christmas now, though :D

I've been working on finalising and padding out two ideas, with a little help from some friends :), and am aiming to get started properly after New Year. That's right, folks! AP finally made a decision :P

So yeah....sorry, and all that jazz, basically. Normal play will resume soon I hope. That's the plan at least.

Questions...

For anyone reading, I have a question/dilemma

I spend a lot of time traveling during my day/out of the house. It means sitting down to write for long periods of time at a laptop is difficult. Either there isn't time or I am tired/in the wrong place (even if laptop is with me.)

I do however have blocks of 10-30 minutes while I am out and about which I could be using to write if I committed to writing on paper. The only issue I have with this is

1. What if I leave the book behind?
2. It adds an unnecessary stage at the end when I have to spend hours typing it up before editing it.

I supppose I could dedicate one night a week to getting everything from that week typed up. This would comnat 2, safeguard me against 1, and I'd know my word count.

What have other people done? Any advice?

Hecticness

Again, busy time. I am making lots of progress at the mo, though, which is good :) Should get some more research done this weekend, then I'll be able to really get going.

Moving...

Not forgotten this place.

I have been doing research and sorting through information. Mum has been a great help. I move house tomorrow, though, so have been too busy to update about it.

More to follow soon. Keep wishing me luck!

Research progress

Some of you will remember my post last week about my current project. For those who don't...

RECAP )

Progress has been slow but sure. I've emailed a couple of places for info, found a few useful websites, and Mum is in the process of transferring information she's collected to me. It's definitely looking up.

I am a bit dubious about whether I'll actually get any replies to my emails, though. Plus, there are some rather big holes in the information Mum and I have been able to find.

That in mind if anyone can recommend anywhere to email, any sites/books to read, then I'd really appreciate it.

ps. I am always looking to make new friends. The more the merrier :D So, if you'd like to know someone new too or even know someone who might be interested in making friends then don't be a stranger ;)

Working hard, or hardly working?

With Uni wrapping itself up I'll have plenty more time once I've sorted the job/home situation about. After much thinking I've finally decided on the piece of writing I want to concentrate on:

A relative of mine, many many years ago, moved from the UK to live with the Mormon settlers in Utah (I said many :P)Or so Mum's family history research says. She was only young, and I imagine so many things about how the change must have been for her. Part of this is motivated by my own moves, I think.

I see real potential to make a good story out of this (her journey, and later mine), if I can get the research I'd need about the time/conditions. I am pretty sure Mum will help.

Anyone here with any info....that would also be gratefully received. It all helps!

I'd consider posting here once I got started but keep changing my mind on that delicate issue. What do other people think?

Also, any thoughts/critique on the idea?

ps. I am always looking to make new friends. The more the merrier :D So, if you'd like to know someone to or even know someone who might be interested then don't be a stranger ;)
